Powder Brows Behandeling bij Studio Mimae in Hoogeveen

Merel Snoeker
If you've been thinking about powder brows for a while but feel a little unsure about what actually happens in the chair, this is for you. I want to walk you through a powder brows appointment at my studio in Hoogeveen, the way it feels, the pace of it, and the small things I do so you can relax into the experience.
My name is Merel, and I run Studio Mimae. I have now performed more than 100 powder brows treatments, and I still take my time with each one. An appointment here is not a quick in-and-out. It is built around attention, calm, and making sure you feel looked after from the moment you walk in.
Before anything happens, we talk
The very first step is always a free intake of about 15 minutes. This happens before any pigment goes near your skin. We sit down, you tell me what bothers you about your brows at the moment, and I ask the questions I need to ask to understand your face, your routine, and your expectations.
There is no commitment attached. If you decide powder brows are not for you, that is perfectly fine. Most of my clients tell me later that this intake was what convinced them to go ahead, because it gave them the chance to see whether they felt comfortable with me. That matters more to me than booking the next appointment.
If you have brows that have been over-plucked in the past, brows that thin with age, asymmetry, scars, or brows that simply disappear without make-up, this is the moment to mention it. I have worked with all of these situations, and I would rather know about them upfront.
Walking into the studio
Studio Mimae is in a quiet street in Hoogeveen, on Alteveerstraat. The studio itself is small, calm, and intentionally not clinical. There is no bright waiting room, no reception desk, no other people coming and going while you are being treated. It is just you and me, with soft light, music in the background, and time set aside so nothing has to be rushed.
That is the part I care most about. A lot of my clients tell me they were nervous before they arrived, and almost all of them say the atmosphere was the first thing that put them at ease. There is no judgment about how your brows look today. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Mapping the shape that fits your face
Once you are comfortable, I look at your face properly. Not just your brows, but the proportions around them. I measure between your eyes, from your nostril wings to your brow start and end points, and I sketch the shape that brings your features into balance.
This is the part that takes the most patience, and I do not skip it. Brows that look pulled too far inward or stretched too far out are the kind of result I most often see from other studios, and it almost always comes from rushing this step. I would rather take twenty minutes longer here than send you home with a shape that does not feel like you.
When I draw the shape on, you sit up, look in the mirror, and we adjust it together. Nothing is permanent until we both agree it is right. If something feels off, we change it. The shape is yours, not mine.
Choosing the colour that fits you
Powder brows are about a soft, powdery effect, like you have just brushed a little brow powder through, but it lasts. The colour has to match your natural hair, your skin undertone, and any grey that is coming in.
I mix and adjust pigments in front of you, and we look at them against your skin together. Pigments that are too dark, too warm, or that shift to red or orange over time are exactly the problems I want to avoid. I work with pigments that are tested not to shift, so what you see at the start is what you will keep.
You will probably notice during this part that I am more interested in what feels subtle than what looks dramatic in the chair. Brows that look obvious on day one rarely look natural a year later. A softer colour now almost always heals more beautifully than a darker one.
The treatment itself
This is the part most people are nervous about, so let me talk you through it honestly.
You lie back in a comfortable chair. The area is cleaned and numbed with a cream so the discomfort is minimal. Most clients describe it as a light scratching or a mild vibration rather than pain. Some people even fall asleep. I am not offended.
Then I work with a very fine needle to place the colour into the skin using the powder technique, building a soft gradient rather than harsh lines. There is no sharp outline, no blocky fill. The needle moves slowly, the room stays quiet, and you can ask me anything at any point.
I talk you through what I am doing as I go. If you need a break, we take one. If you want silence, we have silence. This is your appointment, not a routine I am running through.
A full first treatment usually takes around two to two and a half hours. It is the longest one we do together, because the first time is when we build the foundation.

What you see in the mirror right after
When we are finished, I hand you the mirror. Your first reaction is usually that the colour looks a little darker and more intense than you expected. That is completely normal. The pigment always looks stronger on day one.
Over the next few days, the colour softens as your skin begins to heal. Small flakes form, then nothing on them, and the colour underneath gradually resurfaces. The full healed result is softer and more natural than what you saw in the chair. I always tell clients not to judge the brows for at least four to six weeks, because the healing process is part of the result.
If you want to know exactly what each day looks and feels like, the full precare and aftercare guide explains it step by step, including what is normal, what to avoid, and when to reach out.
Coming back for the touch-up
Around six to eight weeks later, you come back for the touch-up. This appointment is shorter and gentler than the first. I look at how your skin has kept the colour, refine anything that needs a little extra depth, and make sure the shape is exactly where you want it.
The touch-up is included in the powder brows price, and it is the appointment where the result really settles in. Most of the photos in my examples portfolio are taken after this step, because that is when the brows look the way I want them to.
After that, we usually see each other once a year or so, depending on your skin, for a refresh touch-up so the colour stays fresh. Oily skin tends to fade a little faster than dry skin, so timing is personal. We figure that out together as we go.
What I hope you take away from this
If you have read this far, you probably already sense that an appointment at Studio Mimae is not a transaction. It is a slow, personal process, and the result only works if you feel comfortable and listened to along the way.
You do not have to know exactly what you want when you arrive. You do not have to be sure. The free intake exists so you can come in, ask every question you have, and decide afterwards whether it feels right for you. I would rather you take that step slowly than rush into something permanent.
If you would like to meet me first, you can plan a free intake through the website, send me a WhatsApp message, or read more about how I work. Whatever feels easiest, that is the right way to start.
